This webinar will address latest developments on the linkages between biodiversity and reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries (REDD) in the framework of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The purpose of the webinar is to inform National Focal Points and other interested participants about latest developments on the linkages between biodiversity, and reducing emission from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries in the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The webinar will feature the following presentations, as well as time for questions and answers:
– The status of current negotiations on REDD-plus1 under the UNFCCC (Maria Sanz-Sanchez, UNFCCC Secretariat)
– Options on safeguards and other biodiversity aspects of REDD-plus (Rane Cortez, The Nature Conservancy)
– REDD-plus and relevant decisions of the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (Tim Christophersen, CBD Secretariat)
– Tools for enhancing the biodiversity benefits of REDD-plus (Barney Dickson, UN-REDD Programme)
