EU Says Emissions Allowance Theft Near $40 Million

The European Commission now says that more than two million emission reduction certificates worth roughly €28 million ($37.7 million) were extracted from the Czech registry in Tuesday’s heist.  Sources tell Ecosystem Marketplace that the thieves sold the credits within minutes of the theft — long before the theft was discovered Wednesday morning.
