Carbon beyond Kyoto... Carbon for the Rest of us

PG&E Launches ClimateSmart

Even as we hit send on the last installment of V-Carbon News, new information about the carbon market was already pouring in on Friday June 22. Since some of this information is too timely to wait until our next formal edition of V-Carbon News, we wanted to send out a short and sweet announcement that PG&E will be hosting a discussion of the voluntary carbon market on June 28 in San Francisco.

For those of you in California, PG&E cordially invites you to join policymakers, leading environmentalists, businesses and industry leaders as they openly discuss the benefits and challenges associated with these programs. Topics to be addressed include: the design of voluntary carbon offset markets and programs; the development of global standards and protocols; carbon offset project selection; the value of carbon storage in trees and forests; and program verification and accounting practices.

For those of you not in California, we invite you to check in at www.ecosystemmarketplace.com for this week’s feature about the slew of carbon funds now operating across the globe.
