Ecosystem Marketplace, Marketplace eNewsletter

Vol. 2, No. 6: October 6, 2006

From the Editors

We have been so busy developing and launching new, targeted newsletters in the last several months that we have not sent out a Marketplace-wide publication in quite a while. Don’t worry, we have not forgotten about the several thousand subscribers who make the community of people interested in payments for ecosystem services as rich as it is. In fact, we have been stowing away some of our favorite features for you so that you could read them all together at some point in the future. That future is now.

With over 500 people pouring in to listen to the first meeting of the Tropical America Katoomba Group now underway in Brazil, we thought it a good moment to reactivate our monthly newsletter of original Ecosystem Marketplace content. Read on to get the skinny on the man behind the Chicago Climate Exchange, the conservation biologist directing Stanford’s new Natural Capital project and the educator leading Hawaii’s new approach to land management. Follow us from Minnesota to South Africa as we trace the latest findings reported in science journals. And get caught up on the newest thinking concerning conservation development, water-quality trading, mitigation banking, carbon offsets and more in our quick tour of The Ecosystem Marketplace’s last three months.

Are you especially interested in one of these areas and hungry for more information? Don’t hesitate to sign up for the Ecosystem Marketplace’s new audience-specific newsletters by clicking on any of the following links:

The Community Forum focuses on community issues related to payments for ecosystem services.

Mitigation Mail is a monthly broadcast of information about market-based approaches to biodiversity conservation.

V-Carbon News will keep you up to date on breaking news related to the global voluntary carbon market as well as timely information concerning emerging carbon markets in North America and Australia.

We have several new products slated for the weeks ahead, so keep your eyes out for even more growth at the Ecosystem Marketplace in the final months of 2006!
